Using Dental Veneers to Improve Chipped and Stained Teeth

Posted .

As we age, it’s not unheard-of for teeth to lose some of their natural lustre. This can be compounded by things like small chips, old fillings, and deep stains from dark foods and drinks. All of this could leave you with an unappealing smile, wanting to explore your cosmetic restoration options.

Fortunately, Dr. Clell M. Morris is highly trained in a wide range of cosmetic restoration treatments. One of the more popular options people with chipped and stained teeth like to choose is to have him install dental veneers over the teeth in their smile.

Dental veneers are essentially thin porcelain shells that can be fitted over the faces of the teeth in your smile. They are custom crafted in a dental lab to match the natural shape of the teeth, so as to be indistinguishable from natural tooth enamel. Dental veneers can be shaded to appear just like natural enamel, only whiter.

Installing dental veneers often requires two separate appointments. At the first appointment Dr. Clell M. Morris will examine all of your teeth to make sure there you have sufficiently strong enamel on each tooth. If you have one or two teeth that lack the sufficient enamel to anchor a dental veneer, then he might recommend having that tooth fitted for a crown. Dr. Clell M. Morris will then make an impression of the teeth in your smile, which goes to a dental lab that custom forms your new dental veneers.

We will call you back in for a second appointment when your dental veneers are back from the lab. To install them on the teeth our dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the face of each tooth before cementing your new dental veneers in place.
